HSLDA members receive unique services, special discounts, and personal advice to support and equip their family's homeschool program.

HSLDA is pleased to announce a major victory for homeschool graduates. A new law guarantees the equal treatment of homeschool graduates who seek to enlist in the U.S. armed forces.

HSLDA has previously detailed our work to ensure that homeschool graduates are able to serve their nation by enlisting in the U.S. Armed Forces. After numerous homeschool graduates were refused recruitment simply because their diploma was granted to them by their parents and not by a traditional brick-and-mortar school, HSLDA worked with the Pentagon to draft a temporary policy to ensure that homeschool graduates were not discriminated against because of the source of their high school diplomas.

As Becca Everhart, one of the dancers of Arts Evangelica, gazed upward after her warm-up, you could almost see in her joyous face the God she was dancing for.

Everhart has been dancing since she was 4 years old, and two years ago she was invited to Arts Evangelica's pre-professional dance company, a dance company of performers who are “reclaiming the arts for God's glory” as their studio motto states. Her level of instruction is now to the point that she is able to help with the younger girls' classes or lead the warm-up for the June performance of “Firebird.” After each warm-up, all dancers stretch their arms high as they praise God who gave them their ability.

Twin Cities native 's show has five Tony nominations.

If "War Horse" wins a Tony award for best play, the person leaping to his feet at the Beacon Theatre to accept the honor is likely to be Seth NumrichSeth Numrich, born and raised in the Twin Cities, where he was home-schooled before becoming the youngest-ever drama enrollee at Juilliard.

The lead actor in a 35-member company, Numrich (pronounced NOOM-rick) has accepted Drama Desk and other awards for the tender-hearted drama about a young man and his beloved horse ("played" by a life-sized puppet and its human handlers).

Even in a field full of people with interesting stories, Numrich's journey is unique. The 24-year-old stage phenom cut his theater teeth in the Twin Cities at Youth Performance Company (YPC), History Theatre and the Guthrie before moving to New York at 16 to study at Juilliard.

In "War Horse," adapted from Michael Morpurgo's children's story, Numrich plays a young man whose horse, Joey, is sold into the British cavalry in the run-up to World War I. Although younger than the required age, Albert enlists in the army to find Joey.
